Glenn Miller Tribute Bands: The Glenn Miller Tribute Orchestra
Let the Glenn Miller Tribute Orchestra take you on a nostalgic journey through the musical career of the man who created one of the most recognisable big band sounds in popular music history.
You'll hear over 2 hours of Glenn Miller classics: In The Mood, Perfidia, Tuxedo Junction, Little Brown Jug, Moonlight Serenade, I Know Why, String of Pearls plus many more played by a fantastic young band of accomplished musicians dressed in full AEF uniform and performed exactly as it was back in 1944.
The orchestra is directed by Paul Barry who was formerly the Master of Ceremonies onboard the QE2 cruise ship. This is where the idea of putting together a Glenn Miller Tribute Orchestra was initially conceived. Paul had seen many orchestra's performing on the QE2 over the years and wanted to do something totally different. He created his own unique production of what is, in essence, the Glenn Miller story.
Many big bands have tried to reproduce that unmistakable Glenn Miller sound but none of them come close to the Glenn Miller Tribute Orchestra. This is a spectacular tribute to the music and life of a band leader who influenced a generation.
Reviews:
"As the curtain raised, what we saw was a professional looking band who were dedicated to perform their best, and we were quite frankly thrilled and a little spooked as the hairs on the back of our necks raised to this quite emotional start to the concert"
"The Musical Director was Paul Barry, a handsome and pleasant mannered man who wrote and presented the program using some well known extracts from the Glenn Miller Story and the rest from his own knowledge of Glenn Miller history. Throughout the program, he gave us information about Glenn's life and career, as well as history about the tunes the band played and the members who played those tunes in the original Glenn Miller bands"
"The band sounded really good and very close to the original Glenn Miller band. I have never been so satisfied with a concert before because this, from a Glenn Miller fan point of view, was a Glenn Miller Story presentation"
